Senior Residence in Vitoria-Gasteiz
The design of this elderly residence in Vitoria-Gasteiz stems from a reflection on its urban environment. The project aims to create a space that promotes the quality of life and well-being of the elderly, taking full advantage of its location. A key aspect is the reintegration of the elderly into the community, breaking away from the traditional model of elderly homes and encouraging residents to lead active and participatory lives within the city. The strategic location of the project, close to the city center, Hospital de Santiago, and Plaza Santa Bárbara, facilitates access to services and activity areas. The building’s design aims to be a functional and visual landmark within the urban fabric, serving as a point of orientation in the city. Additionally, the proximity to bus and tram stops strengthens connectivity, making mobility easier for both residents and staff. The integration of green structures in the building and its surroundings is also important, as it helps improve the environment by creating healthier spaces and promoting urban biodiversity. Finally, the project ensures a sense of security, providing a calm and protected atmosphere despite being in an area of high activity.
